A coalition of local and national conservation groups filed a motion preliminary injunction last Friday to halt Perpetua Resource’s pending construction of the Stibnite Gold Project: an open-pit cyanide leach gold mine in the headwaters of the South Fork of the Salmon River.

Last week, the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality filed litigation against the cities of Burley and Rexburg over ongoing violations of the federal Clean Water Act at wastewater treatment plants they operate. It comes after Snake River Waterkeeper and ICL, represented by attorneys at Advocates for the West and Bricklin & Newman, LLP filed notices of intent to sue both cities for the same violations.

Today, a coalition of businesses and conservation organizations formally requested that the Canadian government require a more rigorous review of a proposed coal mine expansion in British Columbia that threatens downstream waters in Montana and Idaho.
