Senate Joint Memorial 111 calls on Idaho’s congressional delegation to continue opposing efforts to sell or transfer federal public lands and to support legislation such as the Public Lands in Public Hands Act.

Public lands are central to Idaho’s identity, economy, and way of life. They provide access for recreation, support wildlife habitat, and sustain local communities across the state. Once public lands are sold or transferred out of federal ownership, they are often lost to the public permanently.

SJM 111 reflects a clear and timely message from Idaho lawmakers that public lands should remain in public hands. Conservation Voters for Idaho have led the effort to advance this memorial, and the Idaho Conservation League supports both that effort and the memorial itself as an important step in protecting long-term public access and stewardship.
