Our Lands, Waters, and Wildlife Need Your Vote!

Idaho’s public lands, clean water, healthy air, and abundant wildlife are worth showing up for. From the forests and mountains where we hike and hunt to the rivers where salmon swim—we cannot take these places for granted. Decisions made by elected officials shape the future of our public lands, the quality of our air and water, and the fate of the fish and wildlife that depend on healthy habitat.

This November, make your voice heard. The midterm election is Tuesday, November 3, and it is an opportunity to help shape the future of the Idaho you love. ICL is encouraging you to Get Out the Vote! Make a plan to vote and help friends, family, and neighbors do the same. You don’t need to be an expert on every issue to make a difference. Start with the places you care about, learn what’s on the ballot, and make a plan to participate.

Make your voting plan:

1. Check your voter registration.

Make sure you are registered and your registration is up to date, especially if you’ve moved or changed your name. Idaho residents can register (you will need a current driver's license or free ID card, and proof of residence), update their info, or check their status here. Online registration closes October 23, but eligible Idahoans can also register in person when voting early or on election day.

Check the status or update your VOTER registration. Idaho Residents: Register to vote, change your registration, or check your status here.

To register to vote in person, you will need a current photo ID and proof of residence. Options for proof of residency include:

  • Proof of insurance

  • Mortgage, lease or rental agreement

  • Property tax assessment or bill

  • Utility bills (but NOT cell phone bills)

  • Bank/credit card statement

  • Paystub or paycheck

  • Intake document to a care facility

  • Enrollment letter from an Idaho high school or university

  • Letter from a social service agency

2. Decide when and where you’ll vote

Election day is Tuesday, November 3. Idaho voters can vote early, in person, or on Election Day, or request an absentee ballot. (If you live outside of Idaho, visit vote.org for registration and voting deadlines for your state.)

Early voting: October 13-30, depending on your county.

Absentee voting: Request your ballot by 5pm local time on October 23. Your completed ballot must reach county elections office by 8pm on November 3.

Election Day: Polls are open from 8-8! Find your assigned polling place here.

3) Learn what’s on the ballot

Take some time to research your candidates and ballot measures. Consider their stated positions and records on the issues that matter to you, from keeping public lands in public hands to protecting clean water, healthy air, or Idaho's native wildlife.

Visit VoteIdaho.gov to preview your personalized sample ballot and read the Idaho Voter Pamphlet. You can also find nonpartisan voting resources at VOTE411

4) Know your voting rights.

Review the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division's Know Your Voting Rights guide.

If you run into any problems or have questions on Election Day, call the Election Protection Hotline.

5) Help your conservation community get out the vote

Once you’ve made your plan, share it! Talk with friends, family and neighbors about the importance of participating in elections. Help them find voter registration information, learn about their options, and make their own plans.

Help Protect the Idaho you love.

Public lands belong to all of us, clean water sustains our communities and wildlife. Healthy forests and rivers provide habitat for wildlife and opportunities for future generations. These resources need a strong public voice. Make your plan to Get out The Vote and encourage others to do the same.

Idaho’s land, water, air, and wildlife are worth showing up for.
