Sen. Scott Herndon (R-Sagle) introduced SB 1279, which replaces SB 1257. The bill is very similar to its predecessor, and exempts certain “modifications” of navigational encroachments from needing a permit. Under this bill, an individual making alterations to a dock which doesn’t expand the dock’s footprint or make changes not relating to footprint (ex. replacing decking material) would not need to apply for a new encroachment permit.
