Sen. Scott Herndon (R) introduced SB 1257, which exempts “modification” of navigational encroachments from needing a permit. Under this bill, an individual making alterations to a dock which don’t impact the dock’s footprint (ex. replacing decking material) would not need to apply for a new encroachment permit.
[NOTE: SB 1257 was replaced by SB 1279, which makes minor changes to the original to limit the scope to docks whose footprint would be expanding.]
