[March 21 Update: HB 434 has been replaced by SB 1443]

Rep. Britt Raybould (R- Rexburg) introduced House Bill 434 in the House Natural Resources Committee. The bill requires the Idaho Board of Land Commissioners, known as the Land Board, to require remediation for all leases, permits, or contracts on state lands. While mineral leases already require reclamation under state law, the proposal would require remediation and restoration for all permit holders and lessees if they operate on state land.
