Everything we do places a demand on our environment-the food we eat, the energy we use, the way we travel and the water we consume. Trying to lessen your environmental impact and live more sustainably can feel overwhelming.
But the new year has begun-and many of us are thinking not only about living more sustainably, but also about making a positive and incremental change for the world around us. New Year’s resolutions are the perfect opportunity for all of us to fulfill our lives while helping our warming world.
Now’s your chance to sit down and prepare a list of lifestyle changes that you want to adopt to make a difference. Throughout 2017, we at the Idaho Conservation League are concentrating on lowering our impact on the environment; we invite you to join us in this effort! Let’s challenge each other to live life more fully and commit to improving our health, our well-being and our local communities.
To make lowering your own impact easier, we will offer green tips in four areas where you can make changes: energy, transportation, food and water use. We’ll focus on one area for three months and provide monthly tips on how you can lessen your impact.
- January-March: Energy
- April-June: Transportation
- July-September: Food
- October-December: Water
Starting in January, join us in exploring ways to be proactive and reduce your energy footprint. Every three months, we will invite you to that quarter’s challenge.
For this quarter, we challenge you to reduce your energy use! Can you replace incandescent light bulbs with CFL or LED bulbs, drop your thermostat down a degree or two, and reduce the “vampires” that suck energy even when your appliances and devices are not in use?
If so, sign the pledge below (no longer active) and stay tuned for more information on how you can reduce your carbon footprint (and power bill) while using energy more efficiently. Join us in our #greentips #energyefficiency challenge!
