Willow Planting for Stream Restoration – Coeur d’Alene, ID

October 17, 2023 at 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Join ICL for a day of willow planting at Wolf Lodge Creek!

Wolf Lodge Creek is home to resident west slope cutthroat trout and has historically provided important habitats for adfluvial cutthroat trout. So far, restoration work has stabilized 2000 feet of highly eroding streambank. By planting willow trees, volunteers can help to prevent further erosion of the stream bank and improve habitat for native trout and other aquatic species.

Please plan to wear sturdy shoes or rain boots, long pants that you won’t mind getting muddy, and bring rainproof layers, (just in case!). The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality will provide gloves and pruning shears. No experience is needed, we will teach you what you need to know! Volunteer space is limited so register soon.

Don’t forget a water bottle, and we will provide light snacks!

Restoration site location: 47.643497, – 116.616628

These watershed restoration planning efforts stem from a collaborative group that includes the Kootenai-Shoshone Soil and Water Conservation District (KSSWCD), federal and state agencies, the Coeur d’Alene Lake Management Program, the University of Idaho, the Coeur d’Alene Tribe, and members of the Coeur d’Alene Lake Tributaries Watershed Advisory Group.
