When I was organizing the first Wild Idaho! conference for ICL at Redfish Lake in 1986, a supporter donated an extraordinary coat for the auction.
The Pink Coat is a waist-length, pink faux fur coat. It is fantastically funny looking and led to some crazy bidding at the very first auction. Over the years, it has become a tradition. Each year bidders go wild for Idaho, and each year it gets donated back for the cause of ICL’s work to protect wilderness.
And each year Wild Idaho speakers and friends sign the inside of the coat. There are signatures of conservation luminaries, senators and congressmen, friends of ICL, and now, sadly, several folks who have passed on.
I just pulled out the Pink Coat and thought it was an appropriate blog post as we roll toward our Wild Idaho conference next weekend. Are you coming? You should!!
