Hi everyone! My name is Katie and I am so excited to join ICL as the new Data Development Assistant. I have a background working with community-centered organizations and I’m looking forward to engaging Idahoans state-wide who want to preserve our community’s natural resources.

Katie Jay, ICL's Data Development Assistant and her family

I herald from Tacoma, Washington where I grew up exploring the woods, swimming in cold ocean waters, and cutting my heels on the rocky beaches of Puget Sound. After graduating from Seattle University with a degree in English and Creative Writing, I moved to Boise where I have worked with donors, events, and volunteers at a variety of non-profits including The Discovery Center of Idaho, the Treasure Valley YMCA, and Zoo Boise. Along the way, I have loved learning a plethora of new topics from how to make liquid nitrogen ice cream, to how sloth bears will slurp down everything from mealworms to pineapple, to what is being done globally to protect and conserve wildlife. I have also developed a healthy love of bad puns and funny animal videos.

I am looking forward to continuing to learn about what is being done throughout the state for conservation and being a part of the team that recognizes those who make it possible. When I’m not at work, you can find me down by the river with my husband and two kids, building stick forts and skipping rocks.
