The Driving America Forward Act seeks to expand federal tax credits for electric vehicles (EVs). Take action to help protect Idaho’s air quality and public health. Tell Idaho’s congressional delegation to support the Driving America Forward Act and take a moment to share your love of EVs.

If passed, the Driving America Forward Act would help in protecting air quality, fighting the effects of climate change, and accelerating the transition to electrified transportation. The Driving America Forward Act would grant a $7,000 tax credit for customers who buy EVs. Encouraging EVs in Idaho helps protect our air quality and public health. EVs also keep money in our state that historically has left our borders to pay out-of-state fuel refineries. Help play a critical part in Idaho’s fight against the effects of climate change.

The Grid is Cleaner, Now Let’s Electrify Everything

Idaho’s largest utility just committed to 100% clean power by 2045. At the same time, Idaho continues to spend nearly $3 billion a year on transportation fuels. We need to correct this discrepancy. We must quickly transition Idaho’s transportation system so it’s powered by clean electricity produced within our state. Making this change will not only better protect our pristine air quality, we’ll also keep our money circulating in Idaho’s economy to benefit Idahoans.

Idaho is Ready for a Boost in EVs!

The technology behind electric vehicles continues to advance rapidly. That means longer ranges, shorter charge times, and cars that meet the transportation needs of people from all walks of life. Also, fast-charging stations continue to pop up across Idaho. Southern Idaho is home to four of them along I-84 that can fully charge a car in about 30 minutes!

It’s not just about the technology though. Consider the following:

  • Idaho Gov. Brad Little, in recognition of all the benefits EVs can bring to Idaho, has declared February 14th as Electric Vehicle Day in Idaho. You read that right – Idaho’s electric vehicle day is on Valentine’s Day. Further proof that Idahoans love EVs.
  • According to the Idaho Department of Motor Vehicles, electric vehicle ownership in Idaho has increased by over 200% each year for the past three years.
  • The average U.S. household spends nearly one-fifth of its total family budget on transportation. Owning an electric vehicle can cost less than half as much as gasoline and diesel powered cars, depending on your local gasoline and electric rates.

Will Idaho’s Delegation Support the Act?

Incentivizing electric vehicle ownership brings a number of benefits to Idaho. Electric vehicles help protect our air quality and public health, they keep money in our state that historically has left our borders to pay out-of-state fuel refineries, and they play a critical part in Idaho’s fight against the effects of climate change.

With all these benefits, we sincerely hope that Idaho’s congressional members support the Driving America Forward Act. That said, words of encouragement never hurt. Take a moment to share your love of electric vehicles and urge Idaho’s congressional members to support the Driving America Forward Act.
